Privacy policy
This site counts visits with a small first-party collector I run myself. It sets no cookies, loads no third-party trackers or ad pixels, and never stores your IP address. Here is exactly what it records and for how long.
What gets recorded when you view a page
Visit counting is done by Traffic, a first-party analytics collector I operate at traffic.naveed.io for my own sites. When a page loads, a short script sends one small record: which kind of page it was (the home page, a wash review, a town page) and, for a review, which wash; the hostname of the site that linked you here, if any, but not the full address of that page; any campaign tags in the link you followed (utm_source and similar); your device type, browser family, operating system and language; and how long the page took to draw, so I can keep it fast.
Your approximate country and region are worked out from your IP address at the moment the record arrives. The IP address itself is used only in memory at that moment and is never stored or logged.
Identifiers and browser storage
To tell one visit from the next without cookies, the script keeps a random visit identifier in your browser’s session storage, which ends when the tab closes or after thirty idle minutes, and a random browser identifier in local storage that expires after thirty days. Neither is connected to your name, an account or any other site, and neither leaves this site’s analytics. Clearing this site’s data in your browser removes both.
This site sets no cookies, so there is no consent banner here.
What is never recorded
No IP addresses, no cookies, no full URLs or query strings apart from campaign tags, no form contents, no mouse movements or session recordings, no fingerprinting, and no tracking across other websites. There is no advertising pixel, no tag manager and no third-party analytics service on any page. Nothing is sold or shared.
There are no accounts, so there is no user database. Nothing about you as a person is stored, because there is nowhere to store it.
How long it is kept
Individual page-view records are kept for thirty days and then rolled up into daily totals — page views per page type, visits, referring sites and so on — which are kept for up to about thirteen months so I can compare seasons. The totals contain no identifiers.
What the host sees
The pages themselves are served by GitHub Pages. Like every web server, that infrastructure receives the ordinary details of each request — your IP address, the page asked for, your user agent and the time — and may keep them briefly in operational logs for security and abuse handling. I do not have access to those logs.
Links, ads and email
Review pages link to the official websites of the car washes covered, and to Google Maps for directions. Those are separate businesses with their own privacy practices, and this policy does not extend past the click.
Ad slots, where sold, are shown as plain HTML supplied by the sponsor and are not served through a behavioural ad network. If a sponsored slot ever requires third-party script, it will be disclosed on this page first.
If you email me, I have your message and your address in my mailbox. I use it to answer you. I do not add it to a list, sell it or share it.
Your choices and contact
Every page works in full without the analytics script. If you would rather not be counted, block traffic.naveed.io with any content blocker, or turn off JavaScript; nothing on the site will break.
If you emailed me and want that correspondence deleted, ask and I will delete it. Questions about this policy go to the address on the contact page. This policy applies to napervillecarwashes.com and to nothing else.
